If you have read our previous articles about affiliate marketing and google adesense, you will hopefully have an understanding of how review websites can essentially be used as a platform for displaying adverts. Think of it as online billboards sitting on online real-estate!

Some online marketers are good at spotting money making opportunities and have great ideas for website that could make money advertising products and services on the internet, but not all online marketers are good at writing articles – and that is where you could come in. To extend the online real-estate analogy, online marketers will pay people to build real estate for them so that they can post their advertising billboards on the new platform (content). As a very generalized statement, the more content there is on a website, the more traffic is is likely to get, and the more areas there are for promoting goods and services.

And this is not the only reason why online marketers are interested in content. If you have read our article on Search Engine Optimisation, you will realize that the more content there is on a website, the more likely it is to rank well on the search engines. Say for example, I have a website about insurance. If I could get 20 articles, each one about a different aspect of Insurance (Car Insurance, House Insurance, Health Insurance etc)… and create a micro site around each of these subject areas, and with each microsite in turn linking to my main website about insurance, then my website is more likely to be promoted in the search engines. Now I have neither the time nor the inclination and especially not the specialist knowledge required to write an article about each specialist branch of insurance, so instead, I get talented writers to provide me with the articles and use these on my website.

The typical rate for a 500 word article is about €5-10, depending on the quality and how specialist the subject area is (almost anybody could write about a football match, but very few people could write a genuinely good article about specialist medical implements). Most website owners will be more than happy to hire someone who is interested/experienced in a certain subject to help them by creating content for their webpage. A good place to start looking for writing oportunites would be on the webmaster forums such as digital point or in your local discussion forums such as gumtree.
